Some more bad news from the US, who have the largest carbon footprint per person than anywhere else.  They are living on 6 planets worth of resources and they just want to consume more.  And yet they criticise countries like China and India, who are trying to improve the living standards of their citizens.  And the individual carbon footprints 6 times less than the US citizen.

In the UK, despite a Government which also does not understand the need for more renewable energy supplies especially, small localised units.  Investment in onshore wind turbines appears to be strong, with new wind farms coming on-line.

More prove in any more was needed, that GM crops and foods produced from then are not needed.  When Genetically Modified crops came on the market, they were nicknamed ‘Frankenstein’ foods.  It looks like GM food is living up to this name.

This article shows what can be achieved with a strong political leadership.  While in the UK, we have a Government that keeps changing FITs (feed-in tariffs) for renewable technologies and is promoting large utilities companies with their Green Deal.  The UK will not be able to survive what is ultimately going to come, in not that a distance future.  Manchester City Council is the same, they keep claiming to be ‘Green’, whilst actually doing anything different than before.  They constantly says they cannot do anything without others doing something as well.  I think this article promotes the vision, that it can be done where there is the will.

We have seen the Scottish Government investing in wave and tidal technologies.  The UK has some of the best wave and tidal resources available in the world and has not been exploited by the UK Government.

I thought I would reblog this blog about academics receiving funding from ‘fracking’ companies who then post reports stating ‘fracking’ is safe.  They have not only denied ground-water contamination but even reported it geologically safe after a number of earthquakes after ‘fracking’ has taken place.  I believe this is more evidence why ‘fracking’ should be banned in this country.

One of the reports mentioned in the blog above, mentions past coal mining activity in the past in an area of concern.  Read-heading it reminded me of the fact Lancashire was heavily mined.  Even under Manchester, there are numerous abandoned coal seams, with the ex-Commonwealth Games stadium on the former pit of Bradford Colliery, closed in about 1968:

The “Monsanto Rider”: Are Biotech Companies About to Gain Immunity from Federal Law?

More bad news from the USA.  Monsanto and other agrochemical companies can circumvent any Federal Court sanction against the planting of GM crops.  If they are so convinced there is nothing wrong with their products, why was this hidden away in a bill on Agricultural Appropriations.  It should of been done openly by trying to amend the Plant Protection Act.

Ceding broad and unprecedented powers to industry, the rider poses a direct threat to the authority of U.S. courts, jettisons the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) established oversight powers on key agriculture issues and puts the nation’s farmers and food supply at risk.

This is another reason we need a register of lobbyists in the UK, not just at the National level but also at the Local level.

Most right-thinking people know ethnic cleansing has been carried out in Palestine since 1948.  But for an a US politician to openly admit that it is the  only options they see, as the way forward.  May be the rest of the World will wake up and realise, if the do not take more assertive action action Israel, the Palestine will be wiped of the maps of the world.

At a time which is considered Holy, Easter or Passover, the suffering of the Palestinians goes unabated.  What hypocrites, those who go to church and synagogues, whilst ignoring what is happening in their name.  Why are the Palestinians dying for the sins of the United States Jewish industrialists and financiers, who supported Hitler  before and at the beginning of the Second World War.   This is something that Sir Winston Churchill, documents in his book, The Second World War, London, Cassell 1959.  That, even though knew of the treatment of Jews in NAZI occupied lands (except Denmark), they wanted to support the Nazis, to destroy the British Trade Empire, once and for all.  This is ultimately why Palestine, which had a 2% Jewish population, should be a new Jewish state.  The Palestinians, who were are allies during the First and Second World Wars, have been made to suffer for the failures of the US and Europe.   To even hint, that it is the Israelis who are in the wrong will ultimately lead to accusations, I am anti-Semitic.   That is how they censor criticism, something they highlight at the end of the video.
