Terror, climate chaos, financial crisis are the costs of ‘doing business’

Unfortunately, Portugal, like the UK, is still pursuing a fossil fuel future, despite agreeing to the COP21 Paris agreement.  The Portuguese government has even granted oil and gas producers licenses to drill, onshore and offshore the Algarve.  Even though the area is part of Natura2000, is dependent of fishing, agriculture and tourism.  Even with a (so-called) Socialist coalition government, it looks like drilling will go ahead.  Instead of investing in energy efficiency and renewables!  Though there are groups such as the Algarve Surfers and Marine Activities Association (ASMAA), fighting these proposals.

The techno-narcissism of predatory neoliberal capitalism is locked into an endless war with the bastard monster of its own creation – Islamic State

RTBe legislation a shoe-in and NO recompense for HA’s!

More bad news for social housing in the UK!  Social housing was brought in during the 1930’s by a Liberal Government.  This was because of the disgracefully poor quality private rented properties.  In the 1930s people were still living in hovels, in the ‘land fit for heroes’.  Firstly under Labour, who continued with Thatcher’s policies and now under this satanic Conservative party.  We are returning to the days of utter deprivation for most of the public: poverty-in-the-uk..

Asking a Question, the Challenge open to us all

We have gone back in time, to a period similar to that written about by Robert Tressell in ‘The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists!  And yet, we are now in the 21st Century.  How has this been allowed to happen, where are the opposition political parties?

Recovering the early economic programmes of Die Grünen

The UK’s Sustainable Development Commission (disbanded by the present Conservative Government) produced a report called Prosperity without Growth in 2009.  I do not know, if they used any of the material from the earlier Die Grünen economic programmes (link below) from the eighties?  But it is a pity that the German Green Party, that recognised that continued growth, could not continue, broke up.  And that we just seem to be recycling old ideas, without them materialising into actions.

Back in 2011, at the UK’s Green Party conference in Cardiff.  At a fringe meeting, Equality without Growth, the author of the Prosperity without Growth, Tim Jackson.  Spoke about the need for the Green Party to show real leadership, by pushing forward an agenda for Degrowth.  Something that was needed as the Global North was suffering from the financial melt-down.  Unfortunately, the UK’s Green Party promotes the continued pursuit of economic growth!

Upper Tribunal says ALL bedroom tax decisions unlawfully determined

Manchester City Council (100% Labour) constantly complains about Central Government, whilst it is happy to unlawfully enact the bedroom tax.  Putting many Manchester residents into deeper poverty and even homelessness.  Manchester is one of the most deprived cities in the UK, with the lowest life-expectancy for males.  And all Manchester City Council is concerned about, is throwing money at the usual property developers, like Urban Splash and Ask Development

‘NYT’ and ‘NYRB’ publish important pieces on Jewish terrorism

The New York Times and New York Review of Books have published big important pieces describing Jewish terrorism in Israel and its occupied territories, but both pieces are romantic, and propose to save Zionism and Israel from this inherent element.

Cameron exposes IDS cock up over benefit cap at PMQs!

The UK Government is continuing to attack the poor of the country, whilst enriching the top 10%.  They are even determined to destroy the environment, in an effort to benefit their rich friends.

The sheer bloody lunacy of RTB and welfare reform (sic) – They cost the taxpayer MORE

The UK is becoming another Edwardian Britain, as depicted in Robert Tressell’s The_Ragged-Trousered_Philanthropists.  Unfortunately, Labour are just as much to blame, as they never overturned Conservative policies concerning council housing, during their 13 years in Government.  In fact, Labour controlled councils, like Manchester City Council, were happy to rid themselves of council housing.  They demolished hundreds, just so, ‘homes-to-buy’ could be built, resulting in many being put up for private rent.  We have over 5,000 empty dwellings in Manchester, with a long waiting list for social housing.

A favourable post UT bedroom tax decision and boy are councils not going to like this!!

Manchester City Council is one of those councils which have not looked at the individual circumstances before applying the bed-room tax. The 100% Labour controlled council, has always been swift to carry out Conservative Government’s wishes, whilst blaming the Government. If it had carried out its duties correctly, it would not put hundreds of tenants through the trauma.
