I have always argued, the biggest instability to the grid, is large thermal power plants, especially nuclear. Because, when a large plant goes off-line, we are talking up to 2GWatts (2,000,000,000W). You have to suddenly find alternative power rapidly. Even, with pumped Hydro, there is a delay, to ramping up power, to meet the short fall. This time delay, will be enough, to cause a domino effects, where safety devices, open, to protect other equipment.
When I worked at Bolton’s Thermal Recovery plant, if we had an outage. The Grid operator hardly notice, the 6 MWatts (if we lucky enough to produce that much), they suddenly lost, to out outage! It is entirely a different matter when you lose, GigaWatts of power. As this article points out, Spain had two nuclear units (2GWatts) off-line! Was this planned or an emergency shut-down? As it was, I believe, this caused the cascade affect, plunging the Iberian Peninsular into a massive electricity black-out. With even mobile phones and WiFi being unavailable.
It is long overdue, to stop throwing money at nuclear power, which is not a renewable, not emissions free but a very toxic legacy, for future generations.

Today the Zionist Occupation Forces murdered over 107 Palestinians, who where trying to collect what meagre aid the Zionists are allowing into Gaza. On top of that, they have annexed more Palestinian land to Internationally illegal settlements. This is after months of the Israelis carrying out the wholescale massacre of Palestinians in Gaza. Over 28,000 people have been killed, the health system has been intentionally destroyed ( a war crime), and whole towns have been levelled. Using the Zionist claims of horrors committed on 7 October, which have been shown to be fake. Even by the Zionist media, even on the evening of the Palestinian breakout from their concentration camp. There can be no justification for this collective punishment and Genocide of a civilian population.
The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel’s actions could amount to genocide, and ordered a full investigation. Not only does this mean Israel must take steps to prevent genocide, but it means countries like Britain must also take steps to prevent it and end their complicity with Israel’s actions.
The most obvious step Britain must take is to stop its arms sales and military cooperation with Israel, which are facilitating some of its crimes. Estimates suggest arms sales worth at least £482 million to Israel have been licensed by the UK since 2015. These include licences covering components for aircraft, helicopters, drones, bombs, missiles, military technology, armoured vehicles, tanks, ammunition, and small arms. It also includes an estimated £336 million worth of licensing of components for F-35 fighter jets, which are being used in Gaza. 15% of F-35 components are produced in the UK.
Several countries have already taken steps to stop arms sales to Israel, while a Dutch appeals court has explicitly ordered the Dutch government to block exports of F-35 parts to Israel within seven days, arguing that: “It is undeniable that there is a clear risk the exported F-35 parts are used in serious violations of international humanitarian law.”
It is unconscionable that Britain is playing a role in the crimes being perpetrated in Gaza. What’s more, the UK is completely complicit in the most serious of war crimes and genocide.
The United Nations is a useless organisation, controlled by the USA. Some of its earliest actions, were to allow the occupation and genocide (Nakba) in Palestine, by Zionists. Then under the UN Flag, the invasion of Korea, to support a corrupt regime!
